11th April 2006: COMSOL Multiphysics (FEMLAB) Seminar

Location: Cinema (N02), Nathan Campus, Griffith University
Time: 2pm-4pm Tuesday 11th April 2006

All the way from Stockholm Sweden, Dr Phil Byrne will be conducting a series of COMSOL Seminars and hands-on learning experiences.

COMSOL Multiphysics is a complete environment for the modelling and simulation of any physical phenomena that can be described with Partial Differential Equations. COMSOL Multiphysics has redefined modeling for cross-discipline studies as well as for single-physics applications:-

  • easy-to-use application interfaces,
  • unlimited multiphysics capabilities, and
  • fully flexible model setup.

To be held next month (APRIL 06) for the first 2 weeks in most Australian Capital Cities, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Please hurry with your registration as you will not want to miss this opportunity.

In conjunction with the seminars we will be holding mini-course sessions for a limited number of people, giving a hands-on introduction to the COMSOL Multiphysics Suite. If you are specifically interested in attending these please reply to this email or contact our office directly.

To register your attendance at a seminar near you please visit Technic's website www.technic.com.au/seminars

We look forward to meeting with you this coming April.

2-3 February 2006: EGEE/Grid Training Workshop

Dr. Ruediger Berlich (Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe / Germany) and Dr. David Fergusson (National e-Science Centre / Edinburgh / UK) are visiting Australia early in the new year. We have been very fortunate in persuading them to present a 2-day workshop in Brisbane, to introduce the European Enabling Grids for E-sciencE (EGEE) project, including its goals, infrastructure, middleware and operations. Where appropriate, the workshop material will compare the LCG-2 middleware to its likely successor, the gLite middleware. A preliminary agenda for the workshop is available on-line at http://agenda.cern.ch/fullAgenda.php?ida=a058106

The course makes use of the Gilda training testbed, as provided by INFN/Catania and partners, with an emphasis on practicals - there will be hands-on sessions and participants will be asked to bring a laptop.

The workshop will be held at Griffith University, Nathan campus, on Thursday, 2nd February, and Friday, 3rd February. Places will be strictly limited, so please advise me of your intention to attend as soon as possible. To reserve a place at the workshop, e-mail a.lewis@griffith.edu.au, or telephone 07 373 56789.

Please draw this notice to the attention of those of your colleagues who may be interested.
